not your station

i met a man working in the bank
he counted money and made more
hand in hand with misery and regret

i met woman working in the market
she bagged groceries and wore joy
like a sundress on a day rife with cloud

you may walk outside on a day filled with sun
shield your eyes and curse the ground before you step

you may walk outside on a rainy day
and jump into a puddle with abandon and a smile

and so a great secret of life reveals itself

it not your station that counts
it is your perspective
